Three Georgia men pleaded not guilty to federal hate crimes charges in the Feb 2020 death of Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man who was chased down and shot after being seen running in a Brunswick, Georgia, neighborhood.

Travis McMichael, his father, Greg McMichael, and a neighbor, William “Roddie” Bryan, all pleaded not guilty to charges that they used “force and threat of force” against Ahmaud Arbery because of his race.

After the grand jury indicted them back in April in U.S. District Court, the men were hit with several charges, including interference with rights and a hate crime. Brandishing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and attempted kidnapping charges.
