According to cops, Mercedes Losoya was forced to put feces in her mouth before her death.
According to police, a horribly tortured 5-year-old Texas girl who died earlier this week was forced to consume dog feces and urine-soaked socks.
Mercedes Losoya was pronounced dead on Monday at San Antonio’s Southwest General Hospital, Fox 29 reported. Cops said she had been subjected to weeks of excessive physical violence.
Katrina Mendoza, 22, and Jose Ruiz, 25, her mother’s boyfriend, were both taken into custody & charged Thursday with child injury.
In light of the death of the young girl, police say the charges against the couple could be upgraded.
The arrest affidavit states that when Mercedes was brought to the hospital by her mother, she had bruises and cuts all over her body, including missing clumps of hair as well as several toenails.
Mercedes’ mother later confessed to police that her boyfriend had been assaulting her daughter for 3 weeks after she started asking him to lend a hand disciplining her, according to authorities.
Her account of what happened to her to police officers stated that Ruiz had forced Mercedes into the act of ingesting dog feces while she was screamed at.
Ruiz is accused of putting urine-soaked sock in the child’s mouth and then pulling it out so hard that two of her teeth popped out, officials say.
The mother of the victim, Mendoza, also claimed that Ruiz beat her daughter with belts and his ring-studded hands.
Authorities allege that Ruiz told them that Mendoza was the one who had committed the atrocious acts of abuse against the child.
They said he claimed he only slapped the girl “on the ass” and accused the victim’s 6-year-old sister of pulling her hair.
Mercedes’ sister was questioned independently by police and gave remarks that were coherent with her mother’s, according to police.
