34 kilograms of cocaine have washed up at Gulf Shores and Fort Morgan this week. 31 kilos of cocaine washed up at along West Beach in Gulf Shores earlier this week.

The 3 cocaine parcels began to appear Monday afternoon along West Beach in Gulf Shores. Four additional kilos have washed ashore along the Fort Morgan peninsula in the previous 24 hours, all with distinct marks, some with barnacles suggesting they had been in the sea for a time, and one with an image of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.

“There’s probably a package of cocaine maybe once a year or every other year but that’s like one kilo” asserts Gulf Shores Police Lt. Jason Woodruff. “This is certainly outside the norm.”

Federal agents are investigating how and where the cocaine ended up on Alabama’s shores. Meanwhile, local police urge that if you see anything odd or strange, no matter what it is, phone them and they will come and investigate.
