A third arrest and felony charge are now associated with the Gulf Shores track meet brawl on May 6, 2022. A confrontation with police in the Gulf Shores Sportsplex bleachers reportedly turned violent after a mother, father, and their 20-year-old son fought with officers.

A bystander captured the unsettling encounter on video.

In the video, Gulf Shores Police can be seen attempting to subdue Devin Wilson, whom they allege was unwilling to cooperate and therefore required force. Investigators reported that officers had already approached him once after receiving complaints about his behavior from spectators.

“When they went to speak with him this time was after more patrons in the stands had drawn the officers’ attention to Devin for his behavior,” said Sgt. Nick Corcoran, describing the behavior as disorderly with foul language.

During the altercation, a woman can be seen leaping into the thick of battle and grabbing an officer. The police identified the woman as Ykama Wilson. At some point following the tasing of her son by police, she allegedly removed the taser from the officer’s and slung it.

John Wilson, the father of Devin, turned himself in on Monday, May 16, 2022, after an arrest warrant was issued.

Each member of the family is charged with resisting arrest. In addition to disorderly conduct charges, Devin and his mother each face one felony charge. At the time of the incident, Devin and his mother were charged with assault for disarming a law enforcement officer.
