Mother, Daughter Arrested for Driving 14-Year-Olds Around During Crime Spree in Memphis

According to Memphis Police, a mother and her daughter have been arrested after reportedly driving 2 kids around robbing people.

Lashuna Taylor, 41, admitted to police that she drove two boys around to engage in robberies.

Her 19-year-old daughter, Abrianna Taylor, is accused of shooting an individual while trying to rob him.

The first attempted robbery occurred around 5:10 p.m. on Aug. 10, according to police.

According to an arrest affidavit, the two boys approached a man at a Marathon convenience store on Getwell and confronted him with a gun, saying, “Give me all your (expletive) or I’ll shoot.”

Around 5:28 p.m., the two boys opened a man’s car door on Maxine Street and said, “Give me everything you have,” according to police.

Records show that the boys stole the man’s phone and fled in a black Hyundai Sonata.

Two witnesses decided to follow the Sonata to the Cherry Apartments, and police immediately located two boys who matched the witnesses’ description, according to authorities.

The boys allegedly did admit to the robberies and told investigators that Lashuna Taylor had been the Sonata’s driver.

According to police, she was brought in for questioning and owned up to driving the two kids around robbing people.

She was charged with criminal attempted felony, aggravated robbery, contributing to a child’s delinquency, child abuse, child neglect or endangerment, and driving with a suspended license.

On August 7, officers responded to a shooting in the 1700 block of Morlye Street and discovered a man with a bullet wound to his left arm.

According to the affidavit, the victim claimed he was gunned down while being robbed by a woman and a man.

He stated that while both suspects were armed, the female shot him.

The perpetrators fled in a four-door grey sedan. The victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Days later, police responded to a number of robberies in which the suspect vehicle was a black Hyundai Sonata with a Texas license plate. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver refused to stop.

According to police, the driver managed to flee before colliding with the back of another vehicle.

Abrianna Taylor was noted as the driver and arrested.

According to the affidavit, she admitted to having shot the victim while trying to rob him.

She also stated that she gave one of the kids engaged in the robberies her Ruger.380 and that she engaged numerous robberies with the boys.

According to police, the victim is still at Regional One with internal bleeding and a collapsed lung. He was placed on a ventilator until August 10. He recognized Abrianna Taylor in a picture lineup.

She is charged with Especially Aggravated Robbery, Providing a Handgun to a Juvenile, Contributing to a Child’s Delinquency, Facilitation – Burglary Motor Vehicle, Facilitation – Aggravated Robbery, and Intentionally Evading Arrest in an Automobile.

A 14-year-old boy was charged with Attempted Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Juvenile Handgun Possession, and Fleeing Arrest on Foot. On August 11, police added new charges of Aggravated Robbery (2X) and Especially Aggravated.

Another 14-year-old was charged with Attempted Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Juvenile Possession of a Handgun, and Fleeing Arrest on Foot.

The investigation is still taking place.
