Five people were shot early Sunday at a trail ride concert arranged by a Texas motorcycle club.
The Smith County Sheriff’s Office got a call around 12:35 a.m. reporting gunshot victims at an event at a open area in Winona “described as a trail ride, ATV ride, and horse show,” according to a news release from the office.
According to witnesses, “one or more trail ride groups” fired shots into the crowd during a fisticuffs near the concert stage. According to the news release, a 2nd shooting took place when event attendees returned their guns to security staff who had taken them before entering the concert.

According to the sheriff’s office, a third shooting occurred after the police rolled up.
“At this time it is believed that all injuries took place during the original shooting incident as no new victims were located at the scene by law enforcement subsequent to the third shooting,” the news release said.
The sheriff’s office stated four people were shot and hospitalized. One individual shot in the face was evacuated to a Tyler hospital in critical condition.
The press announcement stated that investigators are questioning witnesses and the event organizer and security firm.
