Multiple People Shot in Downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, Police Say

Chattanooga police report that six people were shot in downtown Chattanooga shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers patrolling the 100 block of Cherry Street were the first to hear the gunfire. According to the police, two of the victims have life-threatening wounds.

The other four have injuries that are not life-threatening. The CPD reports that the wounded have been transported to a local hospital. Their conditions are currently unknown.

Police in Chattanooga believe the victims who were shot were outside the scene of the crime. According to reports, the victims range in age from teenagers to young adults.

During the investigation, CPD requested that everyone avoid the area. One suspect is currently detained.

According to the CPD, there is no ongoing danger to the public.
