Police are investigating the murders as a murder-suicide after an Ohio woman discovered her son and estranged husband dead with gunshot wounds inside the home where she had resided.

Jill Stevenson went to her old house on Creighton Drive in Powell about 6 p.m. Wednesday because she hadn’t heard from her estranged husband and son, whom she was meant to meet at 5 p.m., according to a 911 call obtained by PEOPLE.

She discovered her estranged husband, Jon Stevenson, 57, and their son, Adam Stevenson, 14, lifeless of gunshot wounds when she opened the front door to the elegant home.

On a 911 call, a frantic Jill can be heard telling the operator, “My husband, my son!”

She described seeing her kid laying on the foyer floor with a gunshot to the head and her husband sitting on the sofa facing away from the entrance while sobbing.

“Oh my God, this is not happening!” she said.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Office deputies rushed to the residence and discovered the father and son, who were declared dead at the scene.

Jill informed the dispatcher that she believed her estranged husband had shot her kid, according to the call.

However, officials say differently.

“This case is being investigated as a murder-suicide, and initial evidence collected on scene leads us to believe the son shot his father before taking his own life,” Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeff Balzer said in a news release Thursday.

“This type of loss is a tragedy for a family and their friends to endure, but with two family members, one being a young teen, it borders on unbearable,” said Balzer, who added that police do not know the motive.

According to court documents acquired by The Columbus Dispatch, Jon was convicted of domestic violence and endangering children in 2016.

The instances did not include his son, according to the records.
