Netflix Announces "Squid Game" Reality Competition With $4.56 Million Prize!

Netflix is producing “Squid Game” in real life (allegedly without any of the blood and gore).

The video streaming service has approved “Squid Game: The Challenge,” a reality TV series that will pit 456 applicants against each other in a set of games influenced by the hit series, according to CNBC.

A $4.56 million reward is up for grabs, which Netflix claims is the biggest cash prize in reality Television history.

“The stakes are high, but in this game the worst fate is going home empty-handed,” the company said in a statement Tuesday.

Netflix has opened up auditioning for the show to English speakers all over the world. The filming will actually happen in the United Kingdom. The series is co-produced by Studio Lambert and The Garden, both of which are owned by British broadcaster ITV.

“Squid Game,” which was launched in 2021, rapidly became a global success. It is Netflix’s most-watched series of all time, with 1.65 billion hours of watching time dedicated in the first 28 days of the release.

“Squid Game: The Challenge,” according to Netflix, will include games from the original show as well as some “surprising new additions.” It will have a total of 10 episodes.
