Bodycam video shows the terrifying moment a San Diego woman was gunned down by cops trying to serve an eviction notice — after she went berserk and stabbed an officer.
On March 3, Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Bunch knocked on the door of 47-year-old Yan Li at the Acqua Vista Condominiums, according to newly released video.
“Here’s a notice to evict,” Bunch tells the woman, who is seen holding a large knife at her side, the San Diego Union Tribune reported.
“Put the knife down right now or I’m gonna f—- shoot!” the deputy yells as he draws his service weapon. “Put the knife down. Put the f—- knife down!”
The resident yells back: “How could I know you are not intruder?”
The redacted video then shows a sheriff’s sergeant yelling at the woman behind her closed door while she continues to yell from inside.
When San Diego police officers arrive with dogs, the video clip resumes more than a half-hour later.
According to the news outlet, police discovered that Li had threatened her complex’s maintenance worker with a knife the day before.
The video then shows police using a key to enter the insane woman’s apartment. A deputy can be heard yelling “bean bag” before firing the non-lethal weapon at Li, who is standing near the bedroom.
The projectile, however, fails to subdue the woman, who charges at the deputies and officers, who are seen fleeing to the hallway outside the apartment as chaos ensues.
Several cops are seen stumbling to the ground before shots are fired, and Li falls face down as one officer shouts that he was stabbed.
According to the Tribune, the injured officer was treated at UC San Diego Medical Center and released later that day.
According to KPBS, the four officers have been assigned to desk duty pending an investigation into the deadly shooting. Such temporary reassignments following incidents of lethal police force are common.
