Multiple lawsuits say that more than a dozen female inmates were raped, attacked, or harassed in an Indiana jail after a corrections official reportedly sold the keys to their cells to male inmates for $1,000 apiece.

The ladies said they were subjected to a “night of terror” in the Clark County Jail in Jefferson on October 23, 2021, following officer David Lowe, 29, allegedly gave male convicts entree to the female housing pod for many hours.

According to the lawsuits, at least two female prisoners believe they were raped during the incident, while others say they were molested, fondled, harassed, and threatened.

Last week, eight women filed a federal civil rights complaint against Lowe, the Clark County sheriff, and several prison personnel, and last month, twenty women filed a separate action.

According to the lawsuits, Lowe was on duty the night he supposedly passed the keys to the male detainees after accepting money. Lowe has since been terminated and criminally prosecuted in connection with the incident.
