In Oklahoma, a mother was arrested after her 12-year-old daughter gave birth. The Tulsa Police Department announced Desireee Castaneda’s arrest on Thursday. She is accused of facilitating child sex abuse and child neglect.

Juan Miranda-Jara, the baby’s dad, was apprehended at the hospital on July 14 and charged with rape of a minor. He admitted to police that he had been ‘in a relationship’ with the child since October.

“They walked in just like any other couple would excited to deliver their newborn child,” Tulsa Police Officer Danny Bean told Fox23.

The man apparently seemed annoyed police were involved. The age of consent in Oklahoma is 16.

The Tulsa Police Department revealed the gruesome details of their investigation that led to Castaneda’s arrest.

“The investigation revealed that the victim’s mother and family members were aware of the relationship between the victim and Miranda-Jara,” police said. “The family permitted the relationship, and there are photos of the family throwing a baby shower for the victim and the suspect.”
