Police Pursuit Ends in Standoff in Covina

An assault suspect led the police on a pursuit from Azusa to Covina before coming to a halt near the intersections of Hollenbeck Avenue and Cypress and refusing to leave his full-size GMC pickup truck. More than two hours had passed since the standoff began.
Deputies were dispatched to an Azusa residence in response to a domestic disturbance report. A family member was allegedly attacked with a deadly weapon by the perpetrator, a male. The guy pulled away in the pickup truck when police arrived.
The chase came to an end in Covina after a spike strip destroyed both of the suspect’s front wheels.
After several hours, three armored vehicles blocked the suspect’s truck. Police forces took the man down without shooting any guns after he exited the vehicle.
