Police escorted the principal of Stockton’s Stagg High School from a commencement ceremony on Thursday after he delivered a speech. Ben Nakamura, the high school’s principal, that he learned out in March that he would be let go.

Nakamura revealed to his graduating seniors that he will not be coming back for the next year during his graduation speech.

Nakamura was in this position as principal for the first time this year. He stated that the district had informed him that he would be fired due to its inherent budget constraints, but he opted to stay. Nakamura stated that he reapplied for the job, but that the board of trustees opted not to re-hire him. Click here to hear his full speech.
