R. Kelly’s Co-Defendant Richard Arline Jr. Pleads Guilty To Bribery

R. Kelly’s associate pleaded guilty on this week to attempt to suppress one of the singer’s alleged victims by trying to offer her hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“Me and another person offered Jane Doe money for her to not go forward with her complaint or testimony against Robert Kelly,” Richard Arline Jr., 31, admitted during a virtual hearing in Brooklyn federal court. “I knew what I did was wrong.”

After Kelly was charged with racketeering and sex trafficking indictment in 2020, an anonymous co-conspirator messaged the alleged victim: “Rob is trying to get his cousin rich in contact with you because he wants to pay you for silence.”

During the phone call on May 26, 2020, Arline offered the woman $500k and stated Kelly authorized the payment.

When he’s sentenced on the bribery conviction, Arline faces up to 15 years in prison.
