The US Department of Labor announced Thursday that a company owned by rapper Rick Ross’ family had been penalized for unfair labor practices at 5 of its Wingstop spots in Mississippi.

According to the Labor Department, Boss Wings Enterprises LLC required workers to pay for their uniforms, safety training sessions, pre – employment screening, and cash register shortfalls, causing some employees’ hourly pay to drop underneath the $7.25 federal minimum wage.

The franchise owner also violated child labor regulations by allowing a 15-year-old to work past 10 p.m. numerous times in June 2021, despite guidelines forbidding 14- and 15-year-olds from working past 7 p.m. from June 1 to Labor Day, according to the department.

Boss Wings Enterprises LLC was fined $51,674 in back wages and $62,753 in civil money penalties by the Department of Labor.
