According to Rolling Stone, Rock & Roll legend Little Richard has passed away at 87.
His son, Danny Penniman, Saturday morning confirmed the news to the magazine. Little Richard was born in Macon, Georgia on December 5, 1932, and gained fame in the 1950s.
Throughout his career he has had several top 10 hits including “Tutti Frutti,” “Long Tall Sally” and “Rip It Up” in 1956, “Lucille” in 1957, and “Good Golly Miss Molly” in 1958.
Little Richard brought a unique sound to rock music with a background in rhythm and blues, gospel training and church-sponsored piano lesson that inspired artists for decades.
His style impacted music heavily, as several artists over the years covered his songs; some of them were even recorded by the Beatles.
In 1986, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
