A judge concluded Friday that a Florida man would spend the rest of his life in life without the possibility of parole for brutally killing his girlfriend and their young special-needs daughter in 2018.

His girlfriend, Kenyatta Barron, was shot and killed, and their 9-year-old daughter, who had autism and cerebral palsy, was killed with a hatchet, according to trial testimony. Oneal also attacked and injured his 8-year-old son and set fire to the family house, according to the testimony.

Ronnie Oneal was convicted of killing his girlfriend and their 9-year-old daughter – and trying to murder his 8-year-old son at their Riverview home – and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the chance of parole about a month ago. During the murder trial, his son testified against him.

At the sentencing hearing, Oneal, who defended himself for much of the case and repeatedly shouted at the jurors, spoke at lengths. He claimed self-defense and received a psychiatric evaluation, which determined he was mentally able to stand trial.

“I am not sorry for something I didn’t do,” he began quietly, before raising his voice to shout, “and I am not sorry for the things I did do!”
