On Thursday night, a nurse was fatally stabbed after finishing her shift.

Sandra McIntosh, 46, was picked up by her ex-boyfriend in her own car at Stony Brook Hospital around 7:30 p.m. According to the victim’s sister, he claimed to be picking up items at McIntosh’s place.

McIntosh was then stabbed to death in a wooded area of Holtsville. McIntosh’s sister claims her ex-boyfriend stole her Lexus RX350 white SUV. He then ran away from the scene.

Robert McIntosh, the victim’s brother, says she was a registered nurse at Stony Brook University Hospital, a flight attendant, and a fun, loving, caring mother, sister, and daughter.

Carol A. Gomes, CEO of Stony Brook University Hospital, issued a statement on Friday that reads, “Sandra McIntosh was a dedicated nurse and beloved member of the Stony Brook Medicine family. We are truly saddened at this senseless tragedy, and extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.”
