Three individuals were killed and at least six others were injured in a shooting during a graduation celebration, according to police.
One of those slain was a state corrections officer, according to Miami-Dade Police Director Freddie Ramirez. He said that the celebration was coming to a close inside a strip mall club when one or more vehicles “pulled up and began to fire into the crowd,” USA Today reported.
According to Ramirez, at least one car, a red Toyota Camry, came into the parking area near where the party was held and began firing, NBC6 reported.
Two of those killed were in one of the automobiles engaged in the gunfire, according to authorities. The car accelerated and collided with a surrounding wall. Authorities discovered at least one pistol in the vehicle, although its precise relation to the shooting was unknown, ABC News reported.
The shooting occurred exactly one week after three people were murdered and 21 others were wounded in a shooting outside a banquet hall in northwest Miami-Dade County, News6 reported.
