Sign Of The Times: Capitol Records Signs Virtual Rapper FN Meka

A robot rapper with over 10 million TikTok followers has decided to sign with Capitol Records.

FN Meka is the world’s first major label-signed augmented reality (AR) musician. As the platform’s top “virtual being,” he has over one billion views.

This week saw the release of his debut single “Florida Water.” Gunna, who is presently facing charges in a RICO case along with Atlanta rapper Young Thug, and professional Fortnite player Clix collaborated on the song.

While FN Meka is technically voiced by a person, everything else in his music is artificial intelligence.

According to Capitol Records, the venture is a fusion of music, technology, and gaming culture.

The label described the signing as “a preview of what’s to come” as part of the advancement of the music label’s 80-year history.
