In a CNN report earlier in the week, a Las Vegas “mother” who claimed she was facing eviction and received more than $200,000 in donations is just the babysitter of the three children.

Dasha Kelly, 32, admitted to CNN on Monday that she is not the biological mother of the three girls, ages 5, 6, and 8, who appeared with her in the clip last week about the federal eviction moratorium, which had ended just days before.

During CNN’s visit, the three children did refer to Kelly as their mother, but reporter Nick Watt reported that another woman, Shadia Halo, later described herself as their biological mother.

“We have seen the birth certificates. And now we know that Dasha Kelly is dating the girls’ father.”

Halo stated she had dropped them off for a week.

Kelly claimed that she referred to herself as the girls’ mother because she saw herself as a maternal figure to them.

As of Tuesday, Kelly’s fundraiser had raised more than $212,000 dollars.

Kelly’s funds will be put on hold until her information is verified, according to a GoFundMe representative.
