Two teenage girls have been arrested in Milwaukee in connection with the disappearance of a three-month-old boy, which triggered an AMBER Alert earlier this week.

The Milwaukee Police Department stated in a news release Thursday that officers arrested the 14-year-old and 16-year-old girls, whom they did not name, after the infant’s mother discovered Anthony L. Crudup Jr. missing early Wednesday morning.

Officers said Thursday that the boy’s mother acknowledged allowing “multiple individuals” to stay at her home.

She dozed off and awoke to find the people, as well as her young son, gone.

“I feel they should be prosecuted to the max because they didn’t have no business taking my baby. I mean stuff like this only happens on Lifetime movies,” Schatina Cureton told WISN 12 on Thursday. “I am so tired. I was just going crazy wondering I was just so worried about my baby. I didn’t know what happened to him and what they did with him.”

Cureton stated she was unfamiliar with the teenagers and had never seen them before.

They approached her and stated that they were homeless and in need of assistance.

“They told me they were being molested and that they were being human trafficked, and their mom was making them do things with her boyfriend,” Cureton told WISN 12 News. The police have not responded publicly to those allegations.

According to sources, the 16-year-old suspect told detectives something similar.

No one believed she was really being sexually abused, and she thought that if she turned up with a baby, her claim would be believed.

Cureton stated that the teens took advantage of her goodwill regardless of their motivation.

Officers were led to a residence in the 4000 block of North 44th Street at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Anthony was discovered uninjured and safe. Officers detained five persons at the residence.

A 19-year-old Milwaukee male, a 33-year-old Milwaukee male, and a 56-year-old Milwaukee man were arrested with the two teen girls on unrelated crimes. It’s unclear what kind of connection they had with the teenage girls.

According to police, criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the following days.

The teenage females are still being held in juvenile detention. The case was set to be tried in juvenile court.
