The mayors of New York City and Washington, DC are instructing homeless people to seek shelter in public spaces in order to prevent an on-the-run serial killer who is suspected of shooting at least 5 homeless men in the last month, killing two.

The serial killer did strike again in the early hours of Saturday morning, killing one homeless man and shooting another in the arm in less than an hour.

On Sunday, a 3rd homeless man in New York City was discovered dead in Tribeca. He did not appear to have been shot, but police are now investigating his death to determine the cause.

Three homeless men were shot and killed in separate attacks in Washington, DC earlier this month. Police now believe that the three men shot in Washington, D.C., and one in New York City on Saturday were all targeted by the same individual.

While NYPD officers work to apprehend the suspected serial killer, Mayor Eric Adams and Mayor Muriel Bowser of DC are urging homeless people to seek shelter as soon as possible.
