A 17-year-old boy was arrested in the death of his 4-year-old half-sister, who was discovered dead in a plastic trash.

The remains of Joanna Lockaby was discovered in a container near a forested area behind a residence at 112 Chevy Chase Blvd. on Tuesday, July 19, at approximately 2:45 p.m., according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. She was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.

Following further inquiry, the Sheriff’s Office identified her half-brother, William Hester, as the perpetrator. Authorities suspect Hester suffocated the 4-year-old, contributing to her death.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Hester was detained and taken to the Greenville County Detention Center. According to an arrest warrant acquired by WLOS-TV, Hester admitted to suffocating the infant.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office are still investigating. At this point, no motive for the killing has been established.
