Sanford authorities are investigating a shooting that killed one man and critically injured another on Thursday.
Officers say two men were shot at a residence on Anderson Circle around 11 a.m.
One victim was murdered, and the other was critically injured and transferred to a hospital. Cliff Perard, 38, was later identified as the man who died.
The second victim, a guy, was discovered with evident gunshot wounds in a yard across the street. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to the preliminary inquiry, Perard was trying to remove the suspect, Andre Crist, 51, from the residence. According to authorities, Crist shot Perard and the second victim during a confrontation in the backyard. Crist then rushed to the streets on foot.
Crist was arrested on suspicion of first-degree homicide and attempted homicide. He was quickly caught and arrested without incident.
According to police, the shooting looks to be an isolated occurrence.
