Tennessee Woman Slashed Her Brother's Throat After He Breaks Up Fight, Police Say

Saturday, a Memphis woman attacked her brother for breaking up a fight, according to police.

Midnight, police were dispatched to the 20 block of Falls Road in Southwest Memphis, where they discovered a man with a neck wound.

The victim told investigators he was attempting to break up a fight between his sisters when Jarica Brown slashed the front of his neck with a pocket knife.

The police discovered the pocket knife in Brown’s shoe after discovering her at the rear of the residence.

Brown was arrested and subsequently charged with aggravated assault.

According to America’s Health Rankings for 2019, Tennessee had a higher rate of violent crime than the national average, with 595 cases per 100,000 residents. The organization defines violent crime as homicides, rapes, robberies, and serious assaults.

In Tennessee, those convicted of aggravated assault face between 2 and 15 years in prison.
