Houston police have released camera footage of a fatal shooting that occurred on May 18th.

While inside her SUV that afternoon, Deven Nnawuchi allegedly threatened his girlfriend and her children. Nnawuchi allegedly departed in his girlfriend’s SUV, abandoning her and their children in a residential neighborhood.

However, he returned as she was filing a police report against Nnawuchi. Here is where the bodycam footage begins.

In one series of videos, Officer Donahue can be seen questioning the woman about Nnawuchi’s unpredictable and reckless driving when he returns to the area.

“That’s him! That’s him!” The woman could be heard saying in the video.

Officer Donahue then gets into his patrol car and pursues the suspect. On the police radio, the officer can be heard saying on the way out of his patrol car in the 6400 block of Heath near Cheeves that the suspect had a gun.

You then hear multiple rounds of gunshots.

Officer J. Salinas’ body-worn camera video shows airbags deploying in his vehicle and a broken windshield from another angle. Because Nnawuchi had just smashed into him with the SUV while attempting to outmaneuver Officer Donahue.

Officer Salinas is seen getting out of his vehicle, taking cover behind a residence, and opening fire.

Although it is unclear where all of the shots fired in the video came from, Houston police say two officers discharged their firearms after the suspect fired his gun at them. No officers were injured.

Three body-worn cameras capture officers approaching a wounded Nnawuchi from different angles. Nnawuchi resists being handcuffed. After being secured, the video shows Officer Salinas sitting on the ground while other officers check on him.

The young officer said, “I’m good, he ran into my car.” Officer Salinas gets up and keeps working. An older officer tells him to sit down and requests medical help.

Officer Salinas was injured but is okay. Nnawuchi died at the hospital from gunshot wounds. Body-worn cameras were released 30 days after the shooting, per policy.
