A 16-year-old male from Detroit has been charged as an adult with the murder of a 5-year-old boy and two others.

On March 1, Malcolm Ray Hardy will face the charges. They include three counts of felony murder, first-degree premeditated murder, two counts of armed robbery, and eight counts of felony firearm in connection with the heinous killings of Aaron Benson, LaShon Marshall, and her son Caleb Harris.

According to sources, the circumstances involved a botched robbery and the suspect was known to the victims.

Following an investigation by Detroit police, a 2nd teen male was arrested. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, however, denied a warrant request for him due to a lack of evidence to charge him.

Benson, Marshall, and Harris’ bodies were discovered last Sunday during a welfare check conducted by police after a family member of the adult male victim went several days without hearing from him.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office identified that all 3 victims had been shot several times and died as a result of bullet wounds.

“The allegations in this case warrant charging the defendant as an adult,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement. “This case is truly disturbing, especially as it relates to young Caleb. For many reasons it is disheartening to know that a juvenile is alleged to have committed these acts.”
