According to authorities and her ex-husband, a mother was gunned down Tuesday in a Killeen, Texas cemetery while visiting the gravesite of her recently deceased son for his “first birthday in heaven.”
Yolanda N’Gaojia, 52, was fatally shot in the Calvary Baptist Church Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen shortly after 5 p.m. According to officials, a 2nd victim suffered non-life threatening wounds.
“I have no words because I can’t believe this is real,” Yolanda’s ex-husband Kineh N’Gaojia commented on Facebook.
“This is stuff you see [in] movies but it has become our life. I can’t believe you are gone … how y’all gonna kill her on her Son birthday at his gravesite???” Kineh wrote.
Yolanda was visiting her son Amir’s cemetery on what would have been his 22nd birthday, according to her ex-husband. According to his obituary, Amir died on New Year’s Day. According to the local outlet KWTX , he was one of three children Yolanda and Kineh had together.
Kineh added in another Facebook post, “My children will never be the same again.”
“Those bullets took a precious gem from us but gave us an Amazing Angel to guide us so you know we ain’t going nowhere but up cause we know how hard you rode for your family,” the father explained.
The shooting, which Killeen police described as “an isolated occurrence,” is being investigated as a homicide. The victims’ identities have not yet been released by police.
