The Alpine School District reported Wednesday that a chemistry teacher at Lehi High School has been fired after a student’s recording of her discussing her political views in class went viral on social media, according to KSL.

Alpine School District officials stated the teacher had been placed on administrative leave late Tuesday evening. However, by mid-Wednesday, they announced that she was no longer employed by the district following an investigation into the event. They didn’t specify if she was fired or quit.

“Although the details of a personnel investigation are confidential, the teacher involved is no longer an employee of Alpine School District,” officials said in an updated statement.

“This behavior is inappropriate, not reflective of the professional conduct and decorum we expect of our teachers, and will not be tolerated,” the district said in a previous statement Tuesday evening.
