It was quite the buzz when Paula Patton shared her mother Joyce Patton’s “famous” fried chicken recipe on social media.

Patton says she’s fried 138 wings for Julian’s school in the video. She shares Julian with her ex-husband, vocalist Robin Thicke. Patton responded via video from Mexico, where she was on vacation with her son.

“I just wanted to respond and say listen, I get it,” she stated in the clip that was originally captioned “Peace, love and fried chicken.” “It might look crazy. It is the way we do it. My mom taught me.”

The “Mission Impossible” star denied she didn’t clean the chicken very well, claiming the video was edited, but she did ‘clean it’ because she was feeding it to her son’s classmates.

“We put the seasonings in the oil and all that,” she said. “It’s just the way we do it.
