According to TMZ, Gavin seems to have taken his own life in a brawl with another inmate.

Sources have told the outlet that Tyler’s nephew had been found dead in his cell on Tuesday night (26 February) at a correctional facility near St. Helena Parish in Louisiana. Gavin’s close family— Tyler’s sister, Gavin’s mother — had reportedly been told by prison officials that he had hanged himself with a bed sheet while in solitary confinement.

Gavin had gotten into a fight with another inmate over the weekend and was placed in solitary confinement, insiders told TMZ. Adding, around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, the guards checked Gavin and found nothing to worry about. However, when they returned at 8 p.m., they found Gavin dead.

While his family was told that there was no foul play in his death, sources told TMZ that Gavin’s family was not necessarily convinced.

In 2016, Gavin was arrested for shooting and killing his biological father, following a dispute between the two. He pleaded no contest to manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, reports the news outlet.
