Police discovered a vehicle unattended with 100s of pounds of marijuana inside and arrested a 54-year-old woman.
Catherine Mardesich, according to the Memphis Police Department, left a Chevrolet Suburban in a lane of traffic on the I-55 bridge on Sunday due to running out of gas. Officers were dispatched to the scene after reports that the vehicle had been struck.
The vehicle was moved to 374 Metal Museum Drive by the Tennessee Department of Transportation and Arkansas State Police to complete the crash report, according to police.
When Mardesich came back, she was notified that the vehicle would need to be cataloged and hauled away. She reportedly told officers they couldn’t go inside the vehicle at that point.
Officers discovered 229 pounds of weed in numerous boxes and a duffel bag during the search, as well as a substantial amounts of money, according to MPD.
Mardesich is facing possession of a controlled substance charge.
