According to prosecutors, a freshman Virginia Tech linebacker accused of murder told detectives he fatally punched a man – shattering every bone in his face — for catfishing him on Tinder.

According to the Roanoke Times, Ismemen David Etute, 18, told officers that he came to the Blacksburg residence of 40-year-old Jerry Smith in April for oral sex after matching up with someone as “Angie” on Tinder.

According to Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jason Morgan, who cited what the now-suspended linebacker told detectives, Etute went to the residence on May 31 for another meet-up, at which point he found the person he was paired up with this moment was male.

Etute told investigators that he hit Smith five times in the face and “stomped” on him, but that he didn’t contact police especially after hearing “bubbling and gurgling” from the victim as he left the apartment. The heavily battered man’s body was discovered one day later by cops, according to the publication.
