A man has been arrested in Roanoke Rapids after police say he kidnapped another man, held him against his will, and forced him to participate in sex offenses.

Antonio Avent was apprehended on Sunday at Vidant North Hospital after police stated he ran from them. The man was later apprehended on Buffaloe Street, where officers recovered the victim’s cell phone and drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Last Saturday night, the victim reported to the police department that he had been held against his will by a guy with a weapon, according to WITN.

Avent, 38, has been charged with kidnapping, forced sex, felony larceny, resist delay and obstruct, and drug paraphernalia possession. Avent was released on a $61,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 23 and 26.
