Authorities have charged a group of adults who reportedly assaulted students on the campus of Miami Central Senior High School. The incident occurred at the high school on Northwest 95th Street around midday on Tuesday.
Laquayle Peak, 18, David Peak, 23, Tranesha Housen, 23, and a fourth suspect were arrested after the altercation.
Three female students were assualted by adults while walking to lunch, according to arrest reports.
The grown ups entered the school building “with the intent to fight and had no valid reason to be there,” according to the arrest reports, and the fight caused “terror to the other students present.”
The individuals were seen pummeling the students’ numerous times, and Only in Dade posted a cellphone video of people shouting and throwing fists.
As a result, the school was placed on code red lockdown, and aerial footage showed officers running to the school and handcuffing the adults.
The student claimed there was a false rumor about her involvement in a previous fight, which prompted the adults to attack her.
Laquayle Peak and David Peak are charged with burglary with assault or battery, trespassing on school grounds, and disrupting an educational institution. Housen is also facing a trespassing charge.
Miami-Dade County Public School officials issued a statement Wednesday saying they were “disturbed” by the incident.
“Any actions that endanger the wellbeing of students and employees will not be tolerated. The incident was immediately addressed by the administration and Miami-Dade Schools Police, resulting in the arrest of several non-students. M-DCPS remains committed to fostering a safe and secure learning environment for all,” the district’s statement read.
