According to a press release, investigators with the Durham County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman who was in possession of two kilograms of fentanyl while her toddler was also in the vehicle.

An active investigation was being performed on Karen Garcia Euceda, 24, of Winston-Salem. On Tuesday, she was stopped while driving in Durham. Deputies found two kilos of fentanyl in her car during a search. Her four-year-old child was also in the car.

Euceda is charged with two counts of trafficking as well as misdemeanor child abuse. She is being jailed at the Durham County Detention Center on a $100,000 secured bail.

Fentanyl, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, is a potent synthetic opioid that is comparable to morphine yet 50 to 100 times more powerful.
