A 22-year-old woman reportedly poured boiling water on her boyfriend while he was sleeping causing burns that involved skin graft surgery.
After Alexis Sykes poured the boiling water on him on Jan. 2, she proceeded to SnapChat and mentioned seeing his skin fall off his arms, according to the DuPage County State Attorney’s Office.
Sykes reportedly uploaded a clip with the caption: “I kinda feel bad now because he got 2&3rd degree Burns from face to waist & they rushin him to burn center but oh well (shrugging shoulder emoji) B**** (emoji blowing kiss) n still cried & beg me to drive him to hospital.”
The prosecutors did not offer a motive behind the scalding.
Her boyfriend finally found the keys and drove to the hospital, the prosecutors stated.
He was moved to the Loyola University Medical Center Burn Unit, where he had been treated for about two weeks and undergone skin graft surgery to treat his burns, prosecutors added.
Sykes was ordered to be held on a bond of $500,000 on Monday for two counts aggravated battery by caustic substance and two counts of aggravated domestic battery.
