Kamiyah Mobley talks about future of her mother, who is also her kidnapper

A woman who was abducted from a hospital at birth over 25 years ago has requested the court to have sympathy on the woman who snatched her up, stating that the abductor is the only mom she has ever known — and she needs to be reunited with her mother.

Gloria Williams abducted Kamiyah Mobley from a Jacksonville, Florida, hospital in 1998, only hours after her biological mother, a then-16-year-old Shanara Mobley, gave birth to her. She then brought her into her home and raised her as her own.

The incident was not found until 2017, at which point Williams pled guilty to kidnapping and was sentenced to 18 years behind bars.

Williams called the sentence as ‘cruel and unusual punishment,’ and currently 23-year-old Kamiyah, who calls Williams her mom, has requested that the court to shorten the sentence in an emotional letter dated September 30, 2021 but only recently made public.

When Williams snatched up Kamiyah from the hospital in 1998, she worked in the medical records department at Joint Base Charleston and posed as a nurse.

She had previously miscarried but kept it hidden, so her family believed Kamiyah was her own child.

She was raised in Walterboro, South Carolina, as Alexis Manigo, together with her two sons, Antoine and Andre.

She revealed to Kamiyah that her biological dad was Charles Manigo, who worked at a car lot, and that the couple had divorced before she was conceived.

Wrenoskie Williams, a 55-year-old trucker that Williams married when Kamiyah was in junior high, was more like a father figure to Kamiyah.

The deceit was finally exposed when Kamiyah tried to apply for a restaurant job in 2017, 2 years before Williams was arrested.

Williams broke down and admitted to the kidnapping when Kamiyah asked about her social security number.

According to court documents, police finally cracked the case after receiving two tips: one from a friend who stated Williams confessed to them, and another from someone who claimed to have gotten it from Kamiyah.

Williams was arrested in January 2017 on charges of kidnapping and interference with custody.
