Over the weekend in Philadelphia, a man has been arrested and charged with stabbing a coworker and her two sons.

Hengjian Ni, 39, of New York, New York, is charged with simple assault, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, attempted murder, attempted rape, possession of criminal instruments, and burglary, according to NBC10.

At 2:08 p.m. Sunday, a stabbing occurred on the 3200 block of Knorr Street. A woman in her late thirties was stabbed numerous times all through her body. Her 15-year-old son had been stabbed in the back of the head two times. Finally, her ten-year-old son was stabbed in the back of the head and the left leg.

Neighbors told NBC10 that one of the boys was covered in blood and starting to run down the street. The boy informed them that his brother and mom had been stabbed inside their residence by a man.

One woman, who asked not to be identified, told the outlet that she assisted the victims.

“And then she was mumbling,” the woman said. “She said, ‘Help me. Help me.’ She came struggling down the steps. I told her, ‘I called the ambulance. Hold on stay there.’ She was like, ‘My sons. My sons.’ I was like, ‘I have them. I have them. They’re safe.'”

The three victims were all transported to Frankford Torresdale Hospital. The woman is in critical condition, but both boys are doing well.

Police confirmed to the outlet shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday that a man, identified by police as Ni, tried to turn himself in to Northeast Detectives at the 15th District headquarters in correlation with the stabbing. He was then taken to the hospital and identified as the accused person.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive, but say Ni was the victim’s coworker.
