After a teen boy was wrongfully jailed, his family is demanding an apology from Waukegan police and the high school.

On the night of the Dollar Store shooting and shoplifting incident in Waukegan, Martell Williams, 15, was playing high school basketball in Lincolnshire.

Martell Williams, a basketball player for Waukegan, was abruptly pulled from class last Wednesday.

Williams’ lawyer says that as soon as he was taken into custody, detectives began working to extract a confession.

Attempted murder and aggravated battery were charged against the terrified 15-year-old. Before the case fell apart, he spent two nights in the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center.

Williams’ family established that he was a basketball player for Waukegan at the time of the incident.

Williams was released from detention and the charges against him were dropped.
