Florida Woman Charged With Murder After Authorities Locate Her Battered Decomposing 74-Year-Old Mother

Tammy Spruell, 51, was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in connection with the death of her 74-year-old mother,Beryl Spruell. Spruell was charged with murder in the second degree.

On August 8, authorities performed a welfare check in the 6700 block of Tortosa Court in response to a suicidal person and discovered the 74-year-old victim dead inside. According to authorities, she was in an “advanced stage of decomposition.”

According to a witness, the suicidal person fled the scene before police arrived.

According to the report, a man went to the house in March after Spruell complained about water flowing up from the floor. While he was there, he observed the main bedroom door was closed, according to the man.

According to the report, Spruell told the man, “My mother is sleeping, and we don’t disturb her.”

When police searched the home on Monday, they found what seemed to to be blood arterial spray on the door and a bloody trail leading to Spruell’s mom, according to the report. The police report does not specify when the killing took place or how long the victim’s body was left there.

According to the report, cops stopped Spruell in her vehicle during the investigation and took her into custody.

Spruell confessed to killing her mom with a metal baseball bat in an interview, saying she hit her mother in the face and and didn’t stop.

According to the report, Spruell dragged her mom into the bathroom and covered her face before leaving her on the floor.
